Instrument Power unit

Complex scientific instruments require adequate power systems to drive cameras, computers, heaters and a big variety of sensitive loads. The Instrument Power Unit is a composition of ASP´s capabilities to design standard power outlets as well as ultra-accurate current sources including digital FPGA logic. The result is outstanding power supply equipment designed to meet the highest standards worldwide.

Star Trackers are part of almost every satellite. They support orientation and station keeping in a defined orbit. Front End Electronic and Heater Switch Module

The Front End Electronic and Heater Switch Module for a Multispectral Imager Remote Electronic is a unique combination of several converters in one box to provide outstanding power quality to a complex space instrument. Low Voltage – High Current DC/DC Converters hybrid

High Performance Computers and Mass Memories often require voltages below 3.3Volts and currents of 20 Amps and more. This combination is physically difficult to solve when an outstanding efficiency plays a role. ASP engineers found a solution to this difficult challenge and designed a hybrid package. This includes the complete converter including filters and is easy to be integrated in equipment.

Electrical Subsystem for an Experiment on the ISS (Capillary Channel Flow)

Experiments on the International Space Station trust in power from ASP-Equipment. The Electrical Subsystem combines the power provision and distribution, sensor conditioning and temperature supervision as well as driving electric actuators.

Over Temperature External Electronics Box for an Experiment on the ISS

Experiments on the International Space Station are based on equipment from ASP. The Over Temperature External Electronics Box performs as a means of safety: it senses critical temperatures and breaks circuits to connected heaters. The surface of the housing is black anodized to radiate the dissipated power away from the Box.

Solar Array Regulator

Power Control and Distribution Units (PCDU) fulfill demanding requirements in terms of reliability and robustness. Thanks to their long-term experience, ASP engineers contribute to mature designs of PCDU´s and their functional elements. Battery Management System for Li-Ion Batteries

To an enormous extent, batteries contribute to the success of space missions. Lithium ion cells represent state-of-the-art technology yet require careful treatment over mission time. Therefore, leading European space battery manufacturers rely on ASP´s Battery Management System in order to reliably sustain guaranteed deep space treatment over mission time.

Li/Ion Battery and Battery-Management System (60Ah)

Born out of the long experience with Primary Power Systems the idea emerged to create and test a Li/Ion battery system for space. After developing an innovative Battery Management System COTS Li-Ion batteries were upgraded to perform in space environmental conditions. Qualification on ground finalised this successful study.

Li/Ion Battery and Battery-Management for Space

The concept is based on a proven Battery Management System for Li-Ion and COTS Li-Ion batteries, which were upgraded to perform in space environmental conditions. Redundant Power Distribution Unit

Distributing power to equipment is a subject of reliability and robustness. The long term experience of ASP's engineers contributed to this power distribution in fully redundant configuration. Totall control capabilities of switch on and switch off times as well as highest efficiency were integrated in this unit.

Components for the Advanced Closed Loop Air Revitalization System for the ISS

Fresh air for the International Space Station? ASP demonstrated its experience in transferring Commercial-Avionic-Military (CAM) and Commercial off the shelf (COTS) Components to Space Qualification level. The application is a revitalization-system for breathable air. Pumps, valves, sensors, actuators as well as corresponding electronics were modified and qualified to cope with ESA regulations for human spaceflights.

In the past, High Voltage Power Supplies had to be developed from scratch for every new application. This resulted into costs that not necessarily provided added value to space missions.
